Memorial Day is a United States of America (USA) federal holiday and it is observed on the last Monday of May month and in the year 2010 it will be observed on May 31^st. In earlier times, Memorial Day was known as Decoration Day and it commemorates U.S. men and women who lost their valuable life while in the military service. It is generally celebrated near the day of reunification after the Civil War then it was stretched after First World War.

Memorial Day celebrated as federal holiday in United States of America (USA). When is Memorial Day in 2009? And the answer is that it is May 25th 2009. It is generally observer on the last day of the May month every year and this year last Monday is on 25th May. Earlier, Memorial Day was known as Decoration Day (still some people call this important Day as Decoration Day). In this particular Day (Memorial Day), citizen of United States commemorates to those U.S. men and women who died while in the military service like in World War I.

History of Memorial Day

After the end of the World War (Civil War), so many communities came together and set aside a special day to mark the end of the killing war. Or it is a day to tribute to those who had died in the war. According to the official reports, the birthplace of Memorial Day is a place called Waterloo situated in New York. Late General John Logan officially announced the Memorial Day on 5th of May 1868., national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his General Order No. 11, and was first observed on 30 May 1868, Nowadays, most of the Americans citizen have forgotten the actual meaning, value and traditions of Memorial Day. We can easily find that at many cemeteries, the graves of the fallen are being ignored and neglected in large numbers. The problem is that most US people (specially younger generation people) seems to be no longer remember the actual flag etiquette. But still there are many towns and cities that still hold Memorial Day parades.

Traditional observance

Many US citizen (most of them are senior and middle aged) observe this day by visiting their nearby memorials & cemeteries. Another important tradition is to fly the flag of the United States of America at Government offices and headquarters from dawn until noon local time. They also put the flag in the cemeteries. Some of the Americans also use Memorial Day to honor other own family members or their closed one who have died. Memorial Day is day of holiday in all parts of the country so it is also used as a time for picnics, family parties, family gatherings, and other sporting events.

Good Friday 2013

Good Friday is also known with diffrent names like Black Friday, Great Firday and also Holy Friday. This year in 2009, Good Friday will be celebrated on 10th April 2013 in all parts of the world. But this is not the fixed date for Good Friday, it keep changing every year. 

In this day, Jesus Christ and two other men were arrested by Roman soldiers. He was beaten badly by Roman soldiers and he was so weak. There was a sign above Jesus head and it was "The King of the Jews."
According to the Bible:

(6.00 a.m. is calculated as the first hour in the day by Bible)

The third hour (9:00 am ) of the day - Jesus was nailed to the cross.

The Sixth Hour (12:00 noon) of the day - darkness covered the land

The ninth hour ( 3:00 pm) of the day - the darkness left, and the Lord died



In this particular day, many Christian people fast whole day, by doing so they can remember the sacrifice of the Jesus. Most of the Christian also take part in the procession of witness. They take part in the procession with the groups with Cross in the streets. We can easily find some special services in the Churches in Good Friday. Special services can be seen specially at 3.00 p.m. when Jesus Christ left this world. In this day, Churches were not decorated anywhere as it was the day for mourning.

Christian use to eat "Hot Cross Buns" in Good Friday because Hot Cross Buns supposed to be Tradition Food in Good Friday. Some also eat Fish instead of meat.
