Sikh US Police allowed to keep beard

Sikh policemen in US (United States) are allowed to keep beards and to be allowed to do other things associated with religious identity while on duty. Most of those sikhs are settled there from the Indian state of Punjab.


As per the New Order,  Washington Police Chief Cathy Leniyr passed the order on Wednesday. The Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund (SALDEF) has been prepared under. Accordingly, the duty police officer during a Sikh turban to wear their uniforms and also must find a batch of the department. In addition, systematic manner will be allowed to keep beard.


Common Sense Decision: Leniyr termed it a common sense decision. They are hard to get qualified police officer. Therefore, the rules must adapt to fit the candidates.


In 2011, one sikh was killed by some US students because they thought the sikh is from Afghanistan and they belong to Taliban but they had no idea that Sikh is a different religion and they use to keep long beard.
